Our Story

Founded by Jennifer Maxcy, stylist, maker and home wares curator, The Ranch Uncommon is a design and style site dedicated to inspiring an approach to home decor that cultivates a look as timeless as it is unique, and as beautiful as it is practical. The site houses a gallery of styled spaces that showcase Jennifer’s distinct brand, along with a marketplace collection of thoughtfully curated home goods for sale.

A modern day treasure hunter when it comes to uncovering unique pieces for the home, Jennifer maintains a collection of goods that serves as a go-to source for stylish, hard-to-find, reclaimed and repurposed home wares along with fresh design picks -all carefully selected to work harmoniously together in a style evocative of the rustic meets refined ranch aesthetic Jennifer is known for.

As a stylist, Jennifer approaches her work like an artist, attending to every detail, and layering to perfection. Inspired by the colors and textures found in nature and the interplay of materials, she has a keen eye for mixing reclaimed, well-crafted and vintage pieces with new selections and clean contemporary lines.  Whether styling a home, photo shoot or event, she is passionate about helping clients create a highly personal look and feel, one that is always beautiful and never the same.

Jennifer and her family reside in a small community that has a country life feel, despite being located only 40 minutes North of Los Angeles. Her own home, a renovated 1959 Post and Beam California Ranch House, is the namesake of her design business. A reflection of her unique brand of style, the home has been featured in numerous media outlets including Apartment Therapy, Country Living Magazine, American Farmhouse Style and Modern Country Magazine.
